Area Rep to Assist Reyes Family

Last night, we told you about the Reyes family of Holy Emmanuel Street in Belize. Three weeks ago, their house collapsed during the Indigenous Peoples’ Resistance Day weekend.  During the interview with Love News, Luciano Reyes said that the family has been unable to receive assistance from Port Loyola Area Representative, Gilroy Usher. After the story aired, Usher contacted our newsroom to say that he had been assisting the family, until Therese Reyes relocated to the Corozal Town area. Usher informed that he will visit the family and added that he was unaware of the family’s situation because they had been living in Louis Bevans Street. Usher says he was not informed of the family’s situation and therefore he could not help the family. However, with the new information, the Minister of State has committed to provide assistance.
