Belize City Street Figures pled guilty to being members of a gang

Four Belize City street figures pled guilty to being members of a gang and producing and participating in a video recording that promotes gang activity. They are Sheldon Grinage, John Grinage, Hubert Baptist, and Brandon Baptist, who appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court before Chief Magistrate Sharon Frazer. The men were charged after a video of them brandishing firearms and promoting gang signs was uploaded on the internet and shared on various social media platforms. In court, the men changed their initial not guilty plea to guilty and were speared additional time in prison. The men were each slapped with an 18-month sentence for “Being the member of a gang”. However, they were all given a 1 year suspended sentence on the condition that they are not to be arrested, charged or convicted for any offence or crime during the 1 year suspended sentence period or they will be sent back to prison to serve a 1-year sentence. The men also pled guilty to the charge related to the video and were each fined $1,500.
