The Belize Emergency Response Team (BERT) has received yet another donation. BERT has been in partnership with Triple R Emergency Response since 2019 and received a generous ambulance donation. In total, there are now 10 running ambulance for the country of Belize. Today at Old Belize, Andre Carrillo, the Executive Director for BERT spoke to Love on the ceremony held to acknowledge this new profound support to our h1ealth system and how it will be of great usage.
Andre Carrillo, Executive Director, Belize Emergency Response Team: “Okay so it’s another proud moment for BERT. We’re recipients of two ambulances donated from the United States. It’s donated by our partners Triple R Air Evac from the US and our local partners here in Belize Triple R that provides emergency medical services in San Pedro as well. So we’ve received two ambulances for the Belize district that will operate with BERT and one more that will be in San Pedro providing EMS in San Pedro under Triple R. So every donation that’s provided to BERT and our partners in Triple R gives us the opportunity to save lives. We’re never short of donations, we’re never short of volunteerism and so whenever we get these donations it helps us build our capacity and our ability to respond to emergency calls.”
Carrillo, BERT Executive Director also mentioned how this will aid the people of San Pedro as one of the donations will be giving to the island. Now, residents on La Isla Bonita have access should in case they need any emergent medical assistance.
Andre Carrillo, Executive Director, Belize Emergency Response Team: “This makes it ten emergency vehicles that have been donated to the country of Belize since our partnership started in 2019. So they’ve been assisting us to build a strong system in Belize as well as to provide EMS in San Pedro that never existed before and so now San Pedranos have access to emergency care similar to what we see in the Belize district. Aside from the ten emergency vehicles that have been donated since 2019 we’ve also received medical containers with medical supplies that have been donated.”
