Belize to Host Pok Ta Pok World Cup Tournament

Belize will be hosting the fifth annual Pok-Ta-Pok World Cup tournament this year. Over two hundred players will be converging in Orange Walk at the end of this year to participate in this ancient Maya ball game. Member of the Central American and Caribbean Association of the Ancestral Maya Ball Game (ACCDAPM), Menalio Novelo, notes that Belize will also be pioneering the first ever women’s category to be held on a professional level. The association is gearing up for the event and is looking to raise over eighty-eight thousand dollars to cover the cost.
