Belizean Educators Visit U.S. Enhance Competency-Based Curriculum

A team of Belizean educators is in the United States of America touring the Windsor Central School District to fine-tune Belize’s new Competency-Based Curriculum. The delegation is on a two-day visit to learn about the district’s competency-based curriculum, focusing on its career pathways for students, collaborative teacher teams, and professional learning opportunities. The visit allows the delegation to share best practices on proficiency-based teaching techniques.  According to the Minister of State in the Ministry of Education, Dr. Louis Zabaneh, this is an important visit as it will help in the successful execution of the government’s nationwide effort to improve student outcomes through its “BESPlan” initiative.

The delegation was invited by the district’s school Superintendent, Dr. Jason Andrews, and is expected to extend an invitation to the educators from the Windsor Central School District./
