Belizean fishers are feeling the effects of climate change

The effects of climate change are being felt across several sectors of Belize, particularly the fishing industry. Warmer waters and the erosion of coastal areas that fishes use as breathing grounds are forcing marine life into deeper waters. Minister of Blue Economy and Civil Aviation Andre Perez says that fishers are already feeling the effects of climate change and looking to transition to deep sea fishing. According to Perez, his ministry is looking at ways to assist fishers in diversifying their trade.
