BSI Hoping the New Sugar Crop Season Can Start On Time

 The start of the new sugar cane crop season remains in limbo since a new commercial agreement has not been signed between the BSI/ASR and the Belize Sugar Cane Farmers Association (BSCFA).  The expected date is sometime between mid-December. On BSI’s end, the company does not see this as a reason why the start of the new season will be kept back. And, they already have long-standing agreements with three other cane farmers’ associations that could be affected by a late start. BSI’s Finance Director, Sean Chavarria, explains.
