CitCo and BEL Light Up the City Streets

The Belize City Council continues to light up the streets by placing more lamp posts in dark areas. This is a project that the City Council has been working on for several months after making assessments and identifying areas that are extremely dark at night. Mayor Bernard Wagner, explains that they partnered with Belize Electricity Limited to undergo this project. It is part of the City Council’s efforts to create a safer environment for the community.

blankBernard Wagner, Mayor of Belize City: “That’s a project being driven by the Belize Electricity Limited in conjunction with the City Council so I have to give the Belize Electricity Board their props on really coming together with a plan of lighting the city. The city is a dark city. I was in the city downtown area on Friday night and it is a dark city so any sort of cooperation or collaboration along with the Belize Electricity Limited to really light up our city would be welcomed for the city and I believe all the residents.”

Reporter: The old lampposts you know if those will be taken down or will they remain up ?

Bernard Wagner, Mayor of Belize City: “No those will remain. It’s just added lights.”
