Interdicted police officer, Dion Bellini, has been sentenced to three years in prison after he was found guilty this morning on a charge of “Possession of Controlled Drugs with Intent to Supply to Another”. This morning, the alleged crooked cop appeared in Belize City’s Magistrate’s Court where Chief Magistrate Sharon Frazier delivered the verdict. On December 24, 2020, Orange Walk police acted on information and found Bellini under a parked jeep in the Westrac Orange Walk parking lot. The Belmopan Police Constable’s vehicle was searched and the officers discovered two suitcases that were in the rear cargo section of the vehicle. The suitcases contained 33 parcels of cannabis, which amounted to over forty pounds. During his trial, Bellini claimed that he was framed by the arresting officers for having relations with their girlfriends. Bellini alleged that the officers planted the drugs to frame him. However, his claims did not hold up in court and he was convicted.
