Corozal and PG Community Hospitals to receive autoclaves to safely dispose medical waste

The community hospitals of Corozal and Punta Gorda Towns are receiving autoclaves, thanks to a joint effort of the European Union (EU) and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO). These autoclaves will help the two facilities with proper waste management and the sterilization of infectious waste before disposal at designated landfills. Love News attended the ceremony where representatives of the international organisations and the Director of Public Health and Wellness, Dr. Melissa Diaz spoke to the media.

Valued at 400,000 dollars, the autoclaves use less energy and will reduce the number of harmful emissions into the air.
