Corozal resident dies in motorcycle accident

A resident of the Corozal District lost his life during a road traffic incident sometime between this morning and last night. The dead body of 31-year-old Ian Lanza was discovered this morning next to an extensively damaged motorcycle between miles 64 and 65 on the Philip Goldson Highway. Lanza was found near a culvert with severe injuries to his body. Assistant Superintendent of Police, Fitzroy Yearwood, says that Lanza was last seen leaving a bar in Caledonia Village prior to being found by police.

ASP. Fitzroy Yearwood, Police Department Press Officer: “Around 7 P.M. last night the deceased Ian Glenn Lanza, 31 years of Caledonia Village Corozal, was socializing at a bar in that village and this morning he was found near a culvert apparently dead. So our investigators are still trying to put together what took place between 7 P.M. or after he left that bar and this morning a little before seven.”

Reporter: Have the persons that were at the bar relayed to the police whether this gentleman left the bar intoxicated or anything like that ?

ASP. Fitzroy Yearwood, Police Department Press Officer: “Well as I said we will know that when we do a post mortem examination based on the report we will have to do on that body.”
