Doctor Shares Experience of Domestic Abuse

Belize City resident, Dr. Anges Joseph has boldly taken to social media to share her terrible experience with an abusive partner. Her story is very similar to that of countless women in Belize but the difference between Joseph and other victims of domestic violence is that Joseph will not stay silent. She starts her  post by saying “Domestic violence is not for any particular person, because here I am in bed resting but really and truly can’t, I was knocked out, my left ear drum ruptured and my entire face and head are swollen due to the severity of the blows I endured.”  Agnes says that she did everything in her power to defend herself but her attacker was simply stronger.  She says, “I’m down but not defeated, I thank to everyone who came to my aid. I’m putting this out there not for sympathy, just for awareness… seek help if you are in a similar situation because it will only escalate. My life flashed in front of my eyes, but I only thought of my son…. We will be alright, nothing has been lost!”
