Elmer Nah’s Attempted Murder Charge to be Upgraded
As for the accused killer cop, Elmar Nah- he has yet to be charged for the murder of Viviane Belisle-Ramnarce. ComPol Chester Williams says he has been constantly reviewing the file and says that there is enough evidence to successfully convict Nah even though Belisle-Ramnarace has passed.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “We are not giving up. All is not lost and just today again I met with the investigators and I gave them further instructions in terms of some work that I want them to do to enhance the evidence on file. Again I’m not gonna say what those work are but I gave them some tasks today. I had been reviewing the file constantly, see where they are with the investigation and give direction as to what needs to be done until we can find that special prosecutor who will then take over and guide the investigation. And I am pretty confident that we do have sufficient still absent Vivian to be able to successfully prosecute Elmer Nah.”
The Commissioner says that the Belize Police Department is exhausting all efforts and resources to put together an ironclad case against Nah. Williams says that the US Embassy here in Belize has been contacted for assistance.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “I have seen the criticism being hurled at the police that we can’t investigate, we haven’t gone to the house for video footage, we haven’t gone there, there are many things that we have done with that investigation. We understand the importance of it and the family of the Ramnarace brothers and Vivian they need closure and not just closure they need justice and when I say justice they need to see the perpetrator of that extremely gruesome and heinous act suffer the consequences of what had transpired. And so as a department we must do our best and as the Commissioner I am assuring the public we’re doing all we can. We have solicited assistance from the US Embassy through the regional security officer in terms of enhancing video footage and other stuff I’m not going to divulge everything but there is a lot that we’re doing because we just like the public want to bring successful closure to this very heinous crime that occurred with the Ramnarace brothers.”
