Embattled Punta Gorda Town Councilor Moses Cal has resigned as Deputy Mayor. Cal has also relinquished his portfolio of traffic. Cal says he will not resign as a member of the town council. Cal was arrested after a woman reported that he physically assaulted her. The People’s United Party has called for Cal’s resignation, saying that the party has zero tolerance for domestic violence. Punta Gorda Mayor Charles Selgado exclusively told Love News that the council does not condone this type of behavior.
Charles Selgado, Mayor of Punta Gorda Town: “Yesterday we had a meeting with our councilors and we had received word from the councilor who was allegedly involved in some kind of act and yeah he has stepped down from his portfolio as the councilor for traffic and also he has stepped down from his position as Deputy Mayor. And just to make the public know that we here at the Punta Gorda Town Council we have also zero tolerance for the abuse of women and children and so we from the Punta Gorda Town Council express our deep sympathy to whosoever the victim was and we also would like to stress for the record that we do not condone this type of behavior and so a message out there to the men out there from the Punta Gorda Town Council please love your women, take care of them. You know they are an asset to society much love.”
