Health Minister to take steps to prevent re-occurrence of marijuana-infused candy incident in Belize City

Health Minister, Kevin Bernard, says the government is taking meaningful steps to prevent any possible re-occurrence of last month’s public health crisis involving marijuana-infused candies. The incident, which sent over thirty persons to the hospital, has propelled the discussion surrounding unhealthy school snacks. The marijuana-infused gummies were reportedly mistaken for sugary sweets and sold to children outside a Belize City Primary School, sending over a dozen into the emergency room. Bernard explained that regulating unhealthy snacks in schools may aid in preventing such an incident in the future and improve the health of the nation’s youths.
