Influential Women Remembered through Art in Belmopan

In commemoration of International Women’s Day yesteday, the Belmopan City Council decided to give back to the community through art. Mayor Sharon Palacio spearheaded an initiative to honor two women in society. The city council commissioned an artist to paint a decorative portrait of Beverly Swasey at the Belmopan Cancer Society and Hazel Hutchinson at the HelpAge Center. The unveiling of the portrait was held today.

Cuba artist, Fernando Reina, was commissioned to paint Hutchinson’s portrait that was unveiled at the HelpAge Center.
