
Investigators confirm drug involvement in yesterday’s shootout up north

Authorities are yet to find the body of 27-eyar-old, Randolph Crawford, who reportedly jumped into the New River yesterday afternoon to escape gunshot injuries. Additionally, four men were shot during the shootout that reportedly began in Progresso Village. According to 30-year-old, Benigno Loria, he along with Crawford and Sergio Hall were parked in a GMC Terrain SUV when they came under attack from persons inside a Ford Escape SUV. They attempted to flee the area to escape the attackers, but they still received injuries, and were able to drive themselves to the Northern Medical Plaza for treatment. Crawford, however, chose to jump out of the vehicle. It is anybody’s guess what circumstances led to the shootout up north, but according to Police Minister, Kareem Musa, he is pretty certain it was a drug-related incident.
Police Commissioner Chester Williams gave an update on the investigation, saying that the incident up north is linked to a previous shooting where Loria was targeted in Belize City.
Investigators at the crime scene were able to retrieve multiple firearms and ammunition in the area where the shootout occurred. Among those items found were more than forty expended shells, multiple live rounds, an M4 Carbine assault rifle, a BB gun as welling an IPhone.
