Laddie’s Law

Laddie’s Law

While the trial against Laddie’s accused killer, Kareem Martinez, is coming to an end, his family’s pursuit of justice for Laddie continues. The slain teen’s family through the Justice for Laddie Foundation says they continue to advocate for police reform particularly when it comes to the policing of minors. The four set of rules known as Laddie’s Law was created by the family and members of the public. Lucy Flemming, Laddie’s foster grandmother, says that the foundation is hoping to work with in hopes of working with the police to have them implemented

Lucy Flemming, Grandmother, Laddie Gillett: “I think at this point in time we were actually sharing that with the public to see what the public response would be to some just really simple measures for the police department to prove transparency and so the call to justice has been good. We’ve heard a lot from a lot of people and I think we need to now seek legal authority on this law and see how we go about. Now we’ve been really working towards the case and public awareness so once we do achieve justice then that would be our next call would be try to get Laddie’s Law put into effect.”
