Ladyville man in critical condition after being shot

A gas station attendant is fighting for his life after he was shot last night in Ladyville Village, Belize District. Around 10 o’clock, 21-year-old Carlos Antonio Martinez was riding his bicycle from the Phillip Goldson Highway to Egbert Quilter Street when he was ambushed by a man hiding in nearby bushes. The assailant opened fire on Martinez and shot him twice in the body. The gunman then made good his escape while Martinez fell to the pavement. Police responded to the area and transported the Mirage Road resident to the hospital where he remains in critical condition. Scenes of crime personnel canvassed the scene and recovered 3 (2) 9mm expended shells.
