Man Changes Plea to Not Guilty in Aggravated Assault Case

A man of Maskall Village, Belize District had initially pleaded guilty before Senior Magistrate Baja Shoman, for aggravated assault against his spouse. 36-year-old, Jeremiah Rivera was unrepresented in court, but was prepared to plead guilty; that is, until the statement was read to him. After hearing the facts of the case read out to him, he changed his plea to not guilty, saying he does not agree with the details. Bail was granted to him in the sum of two thousand dollars and a surety of the same amount. The conditions of his is that he should not interfere with the complainant or any of her family member. He is to report to the Hattieville Police Station every Friday and is not commit any other offense whilst out on bail. Jeremiah Rivera next court date is set for July 5, 2023
