Man Shot in San Ignacio Town

Nineteen-year-old Alfredo Rash was shot on Sunday night while at home on his verandah. Police say that it happened around 11:40 pm while Rash was sitting on the veranda. He says that he heard gunshot sounds and later saw a man armed with a firearm firing in his direction. He then realized that he had been shot. Rash was transported to the Western Regional Hospital where he is admitted in stable condition. According to Police Press Officer ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, the attempt on Rash’s life is connected to a prior shooting.

ASP. Fitzroy Yearwood, Public Relations, Belize Police Department: “Mr.Rash is still hospitalized in a stable condition. I know that investigators responded to another shooting incident a little after two on Monday morning that they believe is directly in retaliation to the first incident. I know that our investigators have established that this shooting might be drug related bearing in mind where the first incident took place, the location.”

Reporter: Where was he ?

ASP. Fitzroy Yearwood, Public Relations, Belize Police Department: “Domingo Cruz Street. And they’re treating both investigation as related. We know that a vehicle that was identified as the motor vehicle used for the assailant to escape from the first scene has been located and the driver of that vehicle is also detained and as soon as we have more information I will impart that to you.”
