Marlon Castillo Needs your help

 The name Marlon Castillo is among those of cycling fame in Belize, but recently, Castillo received a life-changing injury at his meat on December 5, 2022. Since then, his hand had to be amputated from above the wrist. Now the road racing and time-trialing champion needs your help to get some semblance of normalcy. He trying to get a mind-controlled prosthetic hand to not only work but to ride again. Love News spoke to the President of the Cycling Federation of Belize, Alicia Thompson about how you can help. 

Alicia Thompson, President Cycling Federation of Belize: “Marlon is a strong young man one thing I can say he has defeated many battles and this one again is another one and he’s strong, he is making it through.”

Reporter: What exactly does he need ? 

Alicia Thompson, President Cycling Federation of Belize:  “Because of what Marlon wants to do he wants to continue being in his shop, he wants to ride his bicycle the idea came up that the type of hand that he would need would be something that would be good enough to work for both of those things he still wants to do in his lifetime for him to feel normal right ? So that’s the type of hand he’s looking for. I believe they’re still in the process of working with their donor or in terms of getting more logistics on the arm that they’re looking for but it would be specifically for his needs. I would just like to take this opportunity to ask donors to give freely and we believe freely give, freely receive. Marlon is a great inspiration to athletes, he’s a strong mental person, he has demonstrated so much strength in what he does. He’s a businessman by trade in terms of butchering and he’s a diesel when he’s on the road on that bicycle. Strong mentally, strong physically. Marlon started riding at a very young age and he demonstrated nothing but strength, dominance in terms of racing. He was somebody at a very young age for you to look out for. We knew that he would have become somebody.”
