Ministry of Transport Trying to Reduce Standees

Another challenge that the Ministry of Transport is trying to tackle is reducing the number of standees in buses. Transport Minister Rodwell Ferguson explained that a test was conducted with the southern-based bus company, Floralia, to estimate how many buses will be needed to be placed on highways to eliminate this problem.

Rodwell Ferguson, Minister of Transportation:Every operator must abide by the rules and regulations. There are certain times when we are testing a run to see if we will need another bus I think there was one time when they asked Floralia to bring some standees for three days to see how much excess standees so we will know another verse is required.”
