One Dead, Three Others Injured in Burrell Boom Shootout

One person was killed and three others injured in a shootout last night in Burrell Boom Village, Belize District.  Love News has confirmed that at around eleven o’clock, Coast Guard Officer Lee Busano, Tanisha Banner and Chesterfield Baptist Jr., left from a dance in the village in a black Chevy Equinox en route to Double Head Cabbage Village. However, shortly after leaving the dance, a red SUV drove beside the vehicle and Veris Ventura allegedly fired several shots in their direction. Thirty-five-year-old, Busano fired back with his licensed firearm. Police Press Officer ASP Fitzroy Yearwood updated the media.

ASP. Fitzroy Yearwood, Public Relations, Belize Police Department: “We know that there was some form of a concert that was being hosted in Burrell Boom where and incident, some form of argument happened between Lee Busano a 35 year old Coast Guard and Veris Ventura of a Belize City Reggae Street address. They are saying that Busano along with his two friends had occupants in his vehicle left from the dance in Burrell Boom and getting less than a mile from that area he was heading to we believe one of the villages in the Belize River Valley area. He was approached by Veris Ventura in a red SUV. The witnesses are saying that Ventura opened fire on the vehicle that Busano and the other two occupants Tanisha Banner and Chesterfield Baptist were in and when he opened fire of course Mr.Busano has a licensed firearm and in responding to the fire that he was brought under he fired several shots towards Ventura’s vehicle. We know that Mr.Busano and the other occupants of his vehicle were transported to the KHMH where a red SUV arrived a few minutes later with Veris Ventura in it who had serious body injuries, several gunshot wounds. Mr.Ventura unfortunately lost his life whilst undergoing treatment at the KHMH.”
