Opposition Leader Supports Civil Asset Recovery Bill despite Enforcement Concerns

The Leader of the Opposition, Moses “Shyne” Barrow says he fully supports the Civil Asset Recovery and Unexplained Wealth Bill. Today, PM Briceno rose to introduce the bill, which seeks to prevent negligent and corrupt actions of public officials. The bill was drafted in consultation with the Joint Unions and includes provisions to recover assets that were wrongfully acquired by past public officials. Barrow says he hopes that the bill can be able to be effective despite the little to no enforcement it comes with.

Another key piece of legislation Barrow weighed in on was the Non-Profit Organization (NPO) Bill. Barrow says he is siding with the NGO community and believes political parties should have been included in the bill.
