A pastor from the Toledo District is behind bars after being accused of choking and assaulting his wife with a firearm. 63-year-old, American national Josea Galdames is accused of brutally beating his wife during a domestic dispute. Police say that on April 8, Galdames went into a jealous rage after he and his wife arrived home from church. Galdames allegedly began to beat his wife with a broomstick on her buttocks, back, and arms. Galdames then continue to beat the woman after she began to bleed and allegedly asked the woman why she went into his cell phone. The woman says Galdames then brought up a previous incident where he accused her of taking a bath after being with another man. The woman told police she then pled with Galdames to believe she was innocent but he became more enraged. The pastor then reportedly slammed the woman against a wall and began to choke her with a fan. The woman managed to escape and says that’s when Galdames pulled out his firearm and threatened to kill her. Today, Galdames appeared before Justice Ricardo Sandcroft and was represented by attorney, Hurl Hamilton. The attorney asked to court to consider granting the elderly man bail but the Justice stated that the reports are disturbing and took into consideration the safety of the complainant. The Justice also was also informed that Galdames is not cooperating with the police and is not complying with measures set out by the family court. Galdames was granted bail late this evening in the sum of $40,000. The court imposed conditions and ordered Galdames to report regular checks at the Independence Police Station. He was also ordered to move and was restricted from traveling to Punta Gorda where his wife resides. The court also issued a stop order at every point of exit.
