Police in Belmopan are investigating a report filed by eighty-year-old Candido Martinez and his brother, Sergio Perez. The men claim that they were victims of an armed home invasion that reportedly happened in October 2022. They say that a group of men, some they ALLEGED to be police officers, barged into their residence in the Maya Mopan area of Belmopan, held them up, tied them up and stole two hundred and fifty thousand dollars that was in a duffle bag. It seems straightforward forward but Love News has learned that investigators are trying to ascertain the legitimacy of the report. These are the facts that we managed to establish with Police Commissioner Chester Williams; one, the two men made the report to the police this morning; 2, no police officers or any law enforcement officers were involved in the supposed incident and 3, investigators are not sure if the report is accurate and are trying to establish the validity of the report. We’ve also managed to establish that the two men who made the report have some sort of long-standing feud with the men they are accusing. One of the men they are accusing is Ramon Aleman whose name appears in an unsanitized police complaint that was leaked on social media this morning. Aleman got in contact with Love FM to categorically deny all accusations. He says that at the time of the supposed incident, he was on his way to Belize from El Salvador. Aleman says the report is entirely false. We’ll keep following this story.
