Police make arrest in the April shooting of Becky Estrada

Police have also made an arrest in a crime that occurred in April of this year in La Democracia Village. Yesterday,20-year-old Jaheed Brakeman, a resident of Ordonez Street in Belize City was formally arrested and charged for the Use of Deadly Means of Harm and wounding 37-year-old Becky Estrada and the crime of Aggravated Assault upon Paul Smith, Sr. On April 16, just after ten o’clock, Estrada was at home with her family when someone stood in front of her door and opened fire. Estrada received gunshot injuries to her hip and was rushed to the Western Regional Hospital. Notably, Estrada is the mother of a minor who was charged with murder in the village in that same month.
