Police Precincts and Formations to get body cams

The Belize Police Department’s many precincts and formations will soon be equipped with new body cams. Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams has signed off on the distribution of body cams with accessories to several precincts or formations nationwide in a memo dated October 3. In this instance, 108 of the cameras will be distributed across the six districts and the cayes. The formations in Corozal and Orange Walk will receive six each as will Precincts 1, 2, 3 and 4 in Belize City. San Pedro and Caye Caulker, the major stations in the west and south will also receive some of the cameras. The commissioner tells commanders that whoever is assigned the cameras ought to be trained and should comply with the department’s Body Camera Policy.
