Prime Minister Comments on Rodwell Ferguson

Last week, Transport Minister Rodwell Ferguson, in an interview, told Prime Minister John Briceno to throw him out of his cabinet if any wrongdoings were found against him. Ferguson was answering questions related to alleged misappropriation in his ministry and some ten air conditioning units. The allegation came after Ferguson wrote his CEO, Marconi Leal Junior, instructing that any amount spent over five thousand dollars must have his approval. Today, Prime Minister John Briceno was asked for a comment.

Hon. John Briceño, Prime Minister of Belize: “We asked for the information from within the ministry and so far as far as we know there’s no such thing that twenty five ACs were done into I think the allegation is that they put twenty five ACs in his hotel, to begin with he doesn’t have twenty five rooms let’s start with that. So certainly it’s just political mischief.”

Reporter: What about the tension between him and his CEO ? Is the Cabinet trying to work through that ?

Hon. John Briceño, Prime Minister of Belize: “Well that’s a matter not just for the Cabinet but we’re finding ways on who both of them can continue to do work together. I think so far they’ve worked well together so it’s just a matter of sitting down and talking to them.”
