An early morning road traffic incident in rural Belize left several people injured. Around 8 o’clock, police visited mile 12 on the Philip Goldson Highway and observed a Ford Focus car and a Toyota Hilux pickup truck, both with extensive damages. The driver of the car, Murrin Leslie, and his passenger, Jarul Pascual, both received minor injuries and had already been transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. The driver of the pickup truck, 55-year-old Thomas Gomez Jr., also received minor injuries and complained of pain in his abdomen area and shoulder. According to police, Gomez appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, and a urine sample was requested from him. The Faber’s Road resident complied with police and was later served a notice of intended prosecution. The police also drew a sketch plan of the scene; their investigations continue.
