Police are still on the hunt for the culprits responsible for the robbery and shooting that occurred yesterday in Corozal Town, leaving one police constable injured. Around 10 o’clock, four armed men barged into the Almacen Shanti Store on 4th avenue. According to the owner, Kishur Kumar, the robbers demanded that he hand over the cash he had on hand. The robbers reportedly snagged about $3,000 US dollars in cash and 250,000 Mexican pesos, totalling more than 60 thousand Belize dollars. The men stuffed the money into a sling bag and made good their escape in a green Geo Prism. The sedan was later found in the Finca Solana Area, and when police got there they came under fire from the robbers who were hiding out in the bushes. The men injured one of the officers before making good their escape. Police recovered the empty sling bag; their investigations continue.
