San Jose Succotz Woman Attacked on Her Property

Sixty-six-year-old Martina Col, a resident of San Jose Succotz Village in the Cayo District, says two men have been provoking her for the past couple of months. According to Col, on June 29, two men went to her home and began throwing stones at it while she was inside.  She says she has filed multiple reports to the police, but they have not been doing anything to stop these men from attacking her. Col says she is worried that one day the situation will escalate out of control.

Martina Col, Resident, San Jose Succotz Village: “One day on a Friday I was lying down on my bed and then I suddenly heard a noise and then I wondered what was happening. Then a while later I heard like 3 stones hitting my roof. When I went out to check I saw a man lifting another stone to throw at my house. It was already a total of five stones. I opened the door and I asked him what’s the matter with you? Why are you throwing stones at my house and then he told me to shut up. They appeared to be drunk and then some type of drugs. The two of them then came onto my property and went out the door by my kitchen. I told them to go away but they didn’t. Well a half hour  later they started to shout but then they left. A while after they came a second time. I told them you know what I’m going to the police because I can’t take this anymore. I went running to the police station and basically had to escape from my own house in fear since they were drunk but then I saw them coming behind me. I went and I gave a report and when I looked they were right behind me at the police station too. The police, it’s been three months since I reported them and they haven’t done anything about it. They told the police that I’m a crazy lady and that they shouldn’t believe me because they didn’t do anything to me.”
