Santa Rosa Village Resident’s House Demolished because of Land Dispute

Santa Rosa Village resident, Godfrey Sho says that the house in which he lived for the past fifteen years has been demolished because of a land dispute. Sho says that two men from the village broke down his house and since then, he has been trying to resolve the matter. He says that now, he and his family are homeless and have no money to get help. Sho explains.

Godfrey Sho, Resident of Santa Rosa Village Toledo: “The only thing he told me is go to court and the court will decide what will happen so I don’t have the money to seek an attorney so I’m just coming on the air maybe someone can help me with my problem.”

Fem Cruz, Cayo Correspondent: Yes so those are properties

Godfrey Sho, Resident of Santa Rosa Village Toledo: “Not properties sir. I was living there for more than fifteen years, that’s government land. I have my house connected to BEL lights and water.”

Fem Cruz, Cayo Correspondent: So what’s next after this ?

Godfrey Sho, Resident of Santa Rosa Village Toledo: “Well that’s the only thing that’s what I’m trying to find out who could help me. If any attorney that is available to help to recover especially my house or they pay me for the investment I did on the land, the two persons if they could just come and pay me for the investment I am okay. I’m having a discussion with the area rep and he told me he was going to help me so I didn’t want to push it on the air until now. I have a concern with my two houses being broken down which I know the person who broke down my two houses well they are just regular persons, they’re just community members so I was very sad to see my two houses being broken down and nobody told me what happened. I went personally to the village chairman and spoke to him and he told me that I have nothing to do with my two house and my two lots in Santa Rosa that’s what he told me and he was so ignorant when he started to answer my questions. And then I made my way to seek help from the area representative which is my good friend the Honorable Rodwell Ferguson but up to last Monday he told me that he cannot do anything to solve my problem.”
