In her resignation letter tendered yesterday, Ruth Guerra-Shoman did place some blame on Senator Elena Smith. According to Shoman, it was Smith’s silence that had contributed to the efforts being made within the union to discredit her. Senator Elena told the media today that she was disappointed.
Elena Smith, President, BNTU: “Disappointed I will say. I think you know we were all disappointed but at the end of the day we have to respect people’s opinions whether we accept it or not we have to accept their opinion and respect their opinion and as I said we move from there. We are at a point where we have moved on from that and we will continue to work together. She has attended our council meetings and she will continue to do so. We will move forward from here and we want for the public to know and to understand that we are moving forward united. That is how we are moving forward. We will inform our membership of what has transpired so that they are aware that this is the position going forward because I’m not sure if they are aware and so it’s our duty to inform them.”
As we noted, the situation is messy. Love News did do an interview with Shoman’s former husband, who indicated that she had lied on numerous points when she appeared on The Morning Show on April 20. It is a very intense interview that we will carefully review prior to airing. We will keep you posted.
