At the turn the millennium, quite a few of us were listening to the debut album by Shyne. In the 22 years since, he ran into legal trouble, sent back home to Belize, became music ambassador, and now is a husband, father, and leaders of a mass political party. In our interview with the Leader of the Opposition, Shyne Barrow reflected on the album that produced his signature “Bad Boyz”, a track he recorded with Barrington Levy. He told Love News he remains truly grateful that the album still means a lot to people more than two decades after its release.
Shyne’s self-titled debut, released on September 26, 2000, sold 160,000 copies in its first week and later became a platinum selling album. The release, which also features the hit “Bonnie & Shyne”, peaked at number 5 on the Billboard 200 chart and number 2 on Billboard Top R&B/Hip Hop Album chart.
