Special Envoy for Women and Children Condemns Recent Acts of Domestic Violence

The Special Envoy for the Development of Women and Children, Rossana Briceño, weighed in on this recent case of alleged domestic abuse. According to Briceño, these allegations that have been brought forward against the Punta Gorda Village Councilor as we enter into International Women’s month put a damper on what the month represents. She says that a thorough investigation will be carried out.

H.E. Rossana Briceño, Special Envoy for The Development of Families and Children: “I did ask questions and I did ask okay so is this just for show ? This is women’s month. Yes there is going to be a thorough investigation in it. I know a statement has gone out. Unfortunately we can’t force the gentleman to resign but he has been given a warning and I hope that it does follow through because we need to make examples. The party, the government has to make examples and has to be true to their word. If we want to truly embrace equity and we truly want to protect our women then unfortunately some people have to suffer. Some people have to be the examples that we’re serious and we want to make a change.”
