Stann Creek woman catches robber red handed

A burglar was caught red-handed while targeting a home before 6 o’clock yesterday evening in the Stann Creek District. American retiree, 58-year-old Theresa Dube and her husband went to check on a home in the Sanctuary Bay Reserve area of Sittee River Village. The house belongs to their neighbor, who is currently out of the country. Dube told police that while checking the second floor, she entered the master bedroom and discovered a man, dressed in dark clothing and armed with a machete, standing next to a sliding door. The crook then demanded Dube hand over her money but she ran downstairs while shouting for help. The burglar then made good his escape by dashing into nearby bushes. Police found there forced entry; however, investigators say nothing valuable was missing from the home.
