Suspect Arraigned for Attempted Murder in Stabbing Incident; Remanded to Belize Central Prison

The hands of justice are turning in the case where a young woman was stabbed multiple times on Friday, May 19.  31-year-old, Wilmer Javier Rivera appeared in court today before Senior Magistrate, Aretha Ford where he was arraigned for one count of attempted murder and one count of use of deadly means of harm upon Jasmine Aguilar.  Rivera appeared unrepresented and has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison until July 28, 2023.  The case stems from an incident at mile two and a half on the George Price Highway near the foam factory when Rivera aggressed the woman, whom he was in a relationship with some four years ago.  Rivera proceeded to stab Aguilar in the neck and abdomen in the presence of several people in the area.  Our court reporter noted that this is not the first complaint of domestic violence.
