The BNTU wants an intense investigation to be carried out

The Belize National Teachers Union (BNTU) has joined the voices that are calling for an intense investigation.  The union issued a release today, stating that its members were alarmed and shocked at the reports of drug-laden candies being sold to students. The release added, quote, “this is nothing short of an attack on our most vulnerable. This is one of parents’ worst fears: parents send their children to school expecting that their children are in a safe and protective learning environment.” End of quote.  The union is calling for an intense and comprehensive investigation, for the perpetrators to be brought to justice and the termination of the production and distribution system. The union adds that it encourages parents, students, and the wider community to heighten their vigilance and support the efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice.
