The late Queen Elizabeth II will not be removed from Belize’s money any time soon. Since the passing of the Queen, people have been wondering whose face or what object will replace hers on the local currency. Prime Minister John Briceño says that for now, it will remain as it is.
John Briceno, Prime Minister of Belize: “Let’s put it this way that the notes are still good why will we spend money and get rid of it and hurry put the King on it at this time? I think as we go replacing them quite likely we are going to put the King for now. We have to wait to see what we are going to be the recommendations from the Constitutional Reform Commission that we just set up. We finally enacted it into law so they will be launched on the 1st of November to do the actual work and if people want to take away that and then put your face on it Daniel then we are going to put your face on it. But the point is that The Queen will stay for right now when we have to replace the dollars then we will replace it certainly for The King until the laws changed.”
