Traffic Incident Leaves One Man Dead

Tour Guide of Medina Bank Village, thirty-three-year-old Macario Coy, died last night following a road traffic incident on the Thomas Vincent Ramos Highway in Indian Creek Village. The incident occurred at around 11:15 pm when Coy was in the company of 18-year-old Osvaldo Che. Coy and Che were hit by a red Wingle Pickup truck which was driven at the time by 33-year-old Abraham Shol. Shol told investigators that he was heading toward home in the village when he spotted three men on the side of the highway. According to Shol, as he was driving closer, Che and Coy suddenly ran across the highway. He says he swerved to avoid hitting them but his wing mirror hit one of them, causing the victim to be thrown onto the side of the pickup truck. Shol came to a stop. With the help of villagers, Shol placed both men in the truck and was transporting them to the Punta Gorda Hospital when Coy succumbed. He was pronounced dead shortly after. Che received medical care and was later released. Shol was served with a Notice of Intended Prosecution and a blood sample was taken.
