Trestle Repairs at PBL are Complete

During our interview with the CEO of the Port of Belize Limited, Andy Lane, he told us that they have finished repairing their trestles. Back in July, the PBL ceased operations for a total of eight days to conduct essential maintenance and repairs to one of the trestles.  The repairs involved replacing three trestle girders. And, these repairs are geared at preserving port operations for the next few years ahead.

Andy Lane, CEO, Port of Belize Limited:  “Yes the stevedores of course they went seven or eight days without an opportunity to work but that is also quite common in their working schedule as well. Earlier this year we invested in quite a lot of new equipment mainly for the yards and we’ve basically got all the yard equipment we need. Now specifically on the trestle the three repairs, the three essential repairs that we had to do so that it didn’t collapse they are completed and based on recent inspections we do not expect any more of those repairs in the foreseeable future and let’s say hopefully no more trestle repairs before we get to open our new port.”
