Giovanna Moguel for Love News: A stable health system contributes to the improvement of Belizean lives – and this is what the U.S. Government is trying to help GOB achieve. The U.S. Embassy in Belize officially handed over a variety of medical supplies and equipment to the Ministry of Health and Wellness. The supplies include hospital gowns, soap dispensers, disposal containers, and patient utility kits. Minister of Health and Wellness, Kevin Bernard, says this will go a long way in improving patient service at the medical facilities around the country.
Kevin Bernard, Minister of Health and Wellness: “Medical supplies are always needed in any health system and so these go a very long way for us. It allows us to be able to get these in the hands of the Belizean people, the patients that come but at the same time also to assist with the work that our healthcare professionals do here at the Ministry through the various regions and so as I mentioned in my message these equipment help to improve the service delivery to residents and to patients in terms of enhancing the type of service. So definitely this goes a very long way and we are grateful for this contribution that has been granted to us here today.”
Giovanna Moguel for Love News: Apart from the day-to-day disposable supplies, the donation also included a number of heavy equipment such as hospital beds, stretchers, and walkers, which will improve the quality of service in the long term. U.S. Ambassador, Michelle Kwan, says the donation is part of the U.S. Government’s ongoing effort to combat illnesses and improve Belize’s healthcare system.
Michelle Kwan, U.S. Ambassador to Belize: “Today’s donation is all about saving lives and strengthening the healthcare system in Belize. We all know the critical role that every country’s healthcare system plays in supporting the nation’s economic growth and industrialization but we also know that impact of healthcare is much more than can be counted in dollars and cents. It’s about ensuring the wellbeing of our friends, our family and loved ones so that they can live a long, happy and healthy life. The oxygen generator medical supplies being donated today will play an important role in ensuring life saving medical care to countless Belizeans now and for the years to come.
Giovanna Moguel for Love News: Ambassador Kwan highlights that the three oxygen generators are a crucial component of this donation as they will help the medical practitioners effectively aid patients with respiratory illnesses – which in some cases is a life or death situation.
Michelle Kwan, U.S. Ambassador to Belize: “The oxygen generators will play particularly important roles in advancing Belize national emergency response capability by ensuring that life saving oxygen therapy is available for critically ill patients as well as others facing respiratory, cardiac an other severe illness for whom oxygen support can really make the difference between life and death. These oxygen generators will provide Belize long term sustainable solution to oxygen needs helping Belize’s medical professionals safe countless lives in the process.”
