Veronica Hamze’s Mother Speaks Out

Thirty-one-year-old widow, Veronica Hamze, remains in Lebanon as she awaits the day she can finally return to Belize with her Belizean daughters. As the audience can recall, Hamze has spent almost three years confined inside four walls with her three daughters and her sisters. Her deceased’s husband’s family tricked her into making the trip to the Middle Eastern country, where she has since been enduring months of abuse and arguments. She urgently wants to return to Belize, but her in-laws refuse to let her daughters return with her. Hamze’s mother, Berta Albarenga, traveled from their homeland, Honduras, to file a police report. A distressed Albarenga expressed her frustration with the situation and is hoping that swift action can be taken.
