Violence at NHI clinics were reaching fever pitch

Violence at NHI clinics were reaching fever pitch

Yesterday, we reported on a memorandum that the Police Department and National Health Insurance Scheme signed. The gist of it is that police officers will provide security at the clinics, primarily on the southern part of the Old Capital, and in return, more than 500 police officers who work in the city will receive subsidized healthcare services. While the goal is to have all officers nationwide in the program, the violence that has plagued the city’s south side necessitated this MOU. The problem is that the warring gang factions often escalate violence near the facilities, often dissuading other residents from getting their check-ups. General Manager, Dr. Ramon Figueroa spoke on the matter.
