Technical officers within the agriculture sector are engaged in a three day workshop in Belmopan.  The workshop is a crucial part of the Sheep and Honey Traceability System that was developed by OIRSA.  Andrew Mejia, the Livestock Coordinator at the Ministry of Agriculture, explained that traceability will provide consumers with information as to where their meat is coming from.

One facilitator at the workshop is Ever Hernandez from El Salvador’s OIRSA.  Hernandez explained that they will be teaching data operation, data analysis and best practices.

The participants of the workshop include personnel from from the Belize Agriculture Health Authority (BAHA) and the Belize Livestock Producers Association (BLPA).  The workshop comes through a collaboration between the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise (MAFSE), OIRSA and the Taiwan ICDF Breeding Sheep and Goat Production and Guidance System Enhancement Project (Sheep Project Phase II)
